Shawn "Pockt" Cox

Shawn "Pockt" Cox is a versatile, self-taught drummer and percussionist with more than 40 years of musical experience and a lifelong passion for creating music. Raised in a musical family, Shawn’s musical foundation began in the church communities of Paterson, New Jersey, and the metro Atlanta area where he developed his signature feel, strong pocket, and deep understanding of musicianship. With 24 years of professional studio recording experience and 18 years of high-energy live performance, Shawn has established himself as a dependable and adaptable musician capable of moving effortlessly across a wide range of genres, including Gospel, CCM, R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, Pop, and Country. His ambidextrous left-handed approach, vast knowledge of musical material, and natural musical sensitivity allow him to adapt quickly to different artists, bands, and performance environments.

His career has included performances with party bands, tribute productions, concert acts, and recording artists, giving him extensive experience working in both high-energy live settings and professional studio environments. His performance credits include Ashley Wineland, the Frankie Beverly Tribute Band, 3BRich Vegas Concert, Michael Jackson & The Jackson Five Tribute Show, Bobbie Womack Tribute Band, Stevie Wonder Tribute Band, Tina Turner Tribute Band, Emerald Empire Band, and numerous other live productions and party bands. Shawn’s recording experience includes sessions for the Miss Junior Georgia Pageant, Jazmine Sullivan at Forge Studio, Grammy-nominated Dazey Lee & INAMtribe at Bravo Studio, and SoulTribe Band at Earthquake Studio.

A graduate of the Atlanta Institute of Music & Media, Shawn continues to bring professionalism, reliability, versatility, and a genuine love for music to every performance and recording session.
