CHRIS “BEATS” BARRETO
Chris “Beatz” Barreto AKA Chris B Beatz is a dedicated and passionate musician/educator with over 10 years of teaching experience and 20 years of professional playing experience. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, moved to Los Angeles, but now currently resides in Daytona Beach, Fl.
Beatz started his musical journey when he bought himself a used drum set at the age of 13 and studied under David Kovins at his School for Musical Performance during High School. He went on to higher education and 1 furthered his studies at Berklee College of Music, the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz in the University of Hartford, and earned a BA in Music Education at Five Towns College.
During this time he studied under great musicians such as Rod Morganstein, Eric McPherson, Bryan Carrott, Ed Balsamo, Sam Ulano, Chris Tibaldi, and Swiss Chris. Working as a professional freelance drummer he’s done many gigs and worked with many bands and artists such as Crossing Midnight, the Free Shots, Melody Rose and Grammy award winning artists Tre Pierce and Jason “Malletman” Tayler, playing across all genres including Jazz, Latin, Funk, hiphop, pop/dance, R&B, and of course Rock/punk/metal. He’s done Pit orchestra for community theater such as Rocky Horror Picture Show and Seussical the musical to name a few. Also studio recordings and touring experience with original bands such as Iignite, King Queen, Two Cent Sam, Midnight Mob, and currently J and the 9s, and cover band “That’s what she said”. Beatz has taught thousands of private 1 on 1 and group drum/percussion, piano, and vibraphone lessons at the School of Rock NYC, Gil Bryan’s 2 Harrisburg Performing Arts Center performing with j and the 9s, 2015 music school, the Long Island Drum/Piano school, and Baldwin Music Academy. All his years of teaching and playing has inspired him to open his own school with the help of his wife and lead singer. His school the “Daytona House of Music LLC” will be fully operational and taking students by January of 2026 in Holly Hill, FL. 3
